Ballyheigue Farm is located in Hampden, Massachusetts and has been a farm since the early 1700's.

Ballyheigue Farm was named and established in 1862 by Daniel J. Flynn and operated for the next 60 years as an agricultural and dairy operation.

In 1910 to the late 1950's it functioned as a peach and apple orchard, but was most notable as an apple farm.

In 1973 a herd of Scottish Highlander cattle was established and finally the Galloway herd in 1986.

For a time, the name Dirtane Farm was used. We have since gone back to the original name of Ballyheigue Farm.

Currently our Galloway herd is growing and we have had our best success selling our calves to start up as well as to established owners.

Ballyheigue Farm consists of approximately 200 acres, 80 of which are either for pasture or hay production. All hay is harvested from the farm and we generally use roll bales, as it is easier to feed out, with some square bales for supplemental feeding. Members of the family accomplish most of the day-to-day work and we require little outside help. We are well supported in the area of machinery, so other than for a very special project the farm is pretty much self-sufficient.

Visitors to Ballyheigue Farm are welcome. Call if it is convenient for you but since we are many times at it 24/7 you can usually catch us.
